Back for good?

Sat Jun 13, 2009, 9:54 AM
It's been an incredibly long time since I've updated here. There are quite a few reasons for that, some good some not. I don't know how much I'm going to be uploading in the near or distant future, but recently I've been inspired to take up the camera and the pencil again. Unfortunately, even more technical problems have arisen so that I'm not quite able to do any photography yet. But the first of my new chapter of Deviations is up, so please enjoy!

New material

I finally got my computer into a state where I can do things with it, and so here's a chunk of photos taken during my christmas trip to Japan. This first set is all from Tokyo, I'll put out more as I scan them in and retouch them. Next is Hiroshima.

Dead

Some of you may perhaps be wondering why exactly I haven't been putting any new images up recently, despite the fact that summer just happened and I had plenty of time to work on photography. The answer is quite simple. During the summer my computer started a slow spiral into madness, culminating last week in a recurring message flashing Warning! Failure imminent. Back-up and replace Hard-disk immediately.

Basically, what happened, is that my hard drive lost a lot of stability, possibly from the sheer number of times I reformatted it, but more likely from the fact that it is almost seven years old now. As a result, I could not actually run photoshop any longer, as it would take over 5 minutes to persorm a simple task such as resizing a photo. Hell, I could barely run firefox without my computer freezing every five minutes.

This should all be fixed soon, as I am getting a temporary replacement hard-drive soon, and will get a permanent one once I can afford it. Then hopefully working on photography won't be the tedious task it has been recently and I can actually get some work done. I've got a great roll of color photos from the Orientation program I helped with this summer (shot on Reala, my first excurion into higher-grade film) as well as about five rolls of black-and-white from various projects over the summer. Of course, I still need to process those, which will require me coercing the lab tech into secreting me in at untold hours of the night. 'Cause I like being sneaky like that. ::evil grin::

Call for help!

Mkay, so here's the deal. My school hasn't paid me for my hours, and I was forced to pay two months worth of loan payments this month. So. I need money, and fast. As such, I'm going to start selling artwork. Take a look through my gallery, and send me an e-mail at akuma.kei@gmail.com Lemme know if there's anything you want. If it's black and white, tell me your preference for Digital or Darkroom Printing. If it's color, it's Digital Printing only. I'm thinking about 10 dollars per print, but if that seems outrageous, let me know.

For the moment, the Jazz portrait series and any other shots of Chris Botti or Jane Monheit are off limits. I understand that this might be the big draws, but the legality is still not worked out, so I'm hesitant to make any profit on them.

New Printer!

Mwahahahaha! I now have a very nice, stylish new Epson Stylus R200, and so for the rest of the night (okay, maybe not the entire thing...) I'm going to be printing photos!

See the Kevin. See the Kevin smile! Smile, Kevin, Smile!
