Dragonfly

This is a shot of Yoshika, a Japanese Jazz vocalist while she was in Seattle at Jazz Alley. She won a contest back in Japan and got to come sing here, and they have another contest here to find someone to travel and sing there. I'll likely enter the contest next year, if I can find out when it is.

Anyways, here's the specs on the shot

Kodak Gold 800 film
Minolta SRT102 with Hoya Tele-Auto 135mm 1:2.8 zoom lens
No filters (the light was low enough, trying to filter would have been a nightmare)
Scanned in on Epson Perfection 1670
Light editing done in Photoshop 7.0 (I'll get CS soon, I hope)

My own critique:
I don't like the composition. Ideally, I'd have the drummer half off the frame just as the bassist is, but doing that would put Yoshika off-center and make the print too right-heavy. Also, the shot is a little blurry for my taste. I'm not sure, but it might have to do with the low lighting. Hopefully I'll have a real tripod sometime soon (especially in time for the Jane Monheit show, expect copious photos of that event).
